A few days ago, I had a fabulous weekend for 2 in Berlin with my honey ♥ Amazing, arty, vibrant and busy city, it's incredible to believe that it got almost totally destroyed and rebuilt. Walking from what used to be the west to the east side is an amazing experience.
It was very hard to do everything we had planned. Will certainly be back soon for more !
I wanted to share some tips about the places we tried ! Here are the ones, I recommend for my readers !
Snapshots included ! ( I am totally crazy about and hooked on the awsome iphone app Cross Process, anyone else ? )
★ Katz Orange - Beautiful two floors of a 19th-century former brewery, tucked away in a back courtyard. Great cosmopolitans and the most amazing 12h roasted pork. It is cooked sous vide for 12 hours and then placed under a salamander broiler to create a crunchy caramelized crust. Served with a flurry of seasonal vegetable side dishes like sautéed mushrooms and a ginger cucumber salad. Delicious, excellent service, great atmosphere and a must-go.
★ Borchardt - A Berlin institution, this high-ceilinged brasserie is as famous for its succulent wiener schnitzel as it is for its guest roster of international power players, A-list babes and pasty-faced politicians. The neo-baroque setting with its soaring pillars oozes tradition built in 1853. If you like brasseries and seeing an institution. The food was average and overpriced for quality.
★ Bar Tausend - Hard to find. This bar has no sign, bell or light at its entrance, preferring instead a bare iron door beneath the Paris-Moskau railway. The place remind me of the futuristic setting lifted from a Wong Kar-Wai´s films: lots of glass, curved steel walls, sleek sofa and a massive circle fixture broadcasting white light from the end of the long, one-room space which include the bar and the tiny dance dancefloor. A place to be seen, and to see.
★ Anna Blume - Amazing and the most charming place when it comes to fabulous Sunday brunch locations. Anna Blume, in the boho Prenzlauer Berg, offers a gorgeous terrace and a wonderful lunch etagère for two, which includes a gorgeous looking silvery etagère with eggs, fruits, vegetables, salmon, ham.. A must-go.
★ We stayed at design hotel Cosmo Hotel in Mitte. Quiet area, yet central.
★ CHIPPS- A great place to get breakfast or light lunch to fill up energy for a day out ! Good quality products and great design !
and found on the way, the cute coffee shop at checkpoint Charlie, Westberlin
and more snapshots of various photogenic places...
