Beautiful home/studio in Barcelona

Sunday, 4 March 2012

When I first moved to this vibrant city 7 years ago, I was having meetings and lunches in some beautiful places that I picked on recommandation or because it looked so beautiful from the outside that it was a perfect place to make business in style !

I discovered soon enough that all these places had one talent in common. For those who are not familiar with this designer, Lazaro Rosa-Violàn is a leading young  Barcelona-born interior designer/ artist (studied fine Arts in Madrid).
Most of the most amazing restaurants, hotels, bars in the city has been designed by his studio. And also in Spain, Balearic islands, Morocco.. ( I will do another post on his work soon !)

His home/studio in Barcelona ( right behind my own home !) is where he lives and works with his design team of 8.  It used to be a family headquarters  cotton warehouse in the Eixample district, one of the key areas of the 19th and  early 20th century after the old city 's walls ( "ciutad vella") were demolished.

This is my neighborhood ! :) Large avenues, stunning architecture,  high ceiling apartments, hydraulic mosaics, prestigious marble entries, parcs and trees,  10mn from the Beach and right in the center. My favorite to live in.

Eixample went on to become known for its striking Modernista heritage (Art Nouveau) influenced by the likes of Gaudi, for his landmarks such as Casa Millà, Sagrada Familia among others.

We can find old and new mix of furniture, dramatic sculptures, wall panels, art, and  many of them found during his travels. Any object or piece of furniture you see is ready to  leave for another projet at any moment.
This 200m2 space with is 600m2 terrace is truly a gem and such a good showroom for a talented designer.
